What services does the Oyster fee include?
The Oyster subscription fee is charged per Team Member (or contractor) on a monthly basis. It includes all the services provided to you through the Oyster platform including onboarding your Team Members, global payroll administration, and ongoing management and compliance for your global team.
Are there additional charges such as setup or cancellation fees?
No, Oyster does not charge any setup or cancellation fees. However, Oyster requires a refundable security deposit to initiate the engagement.
Do you offer discounts at a certain volume of hiring?
Yes, we do. Once the number of full-time Team Members you engage through Oyster exceeds five, you’ll be eligible for Oyster Scale. You will be able to pre-purchase a number of seats at a reduced rate.
How does Oyster handle currency conversions?
Oyster charges a fee for currency conversions but the fee applies only if you pay us in a currency different from the contract currency. Click here to learn more.
Can I pay Oyster in a non-local currency?
At the moment, we only accept payments in USD, EUR, or GBP (CAD coming soon). You can pay us by direct debit if you have a bank account in the US, Eurozone, or the UK.
Is there a minimum number of team members or a minimum commitment required?
No, you can use Oyster to engage as many global candidates as you need. The Oyster subscription fee is charged per active Team Member, per month.
Is the Oyster platform free?
It’s totally free to create an account, explore the platform, and access its global HR tools and resources! The Oyster fee will only kick in once you’ve engaged a contractor or Team Member.
What are the available payment methods at Oyster?
Oyster accepts both direct debits (ACH for USD, BACS for GBP, and SEPA for EUR) and wire transfers as payment methods. You can easily set up direct debit or auto-withdrawal and pay in one click through the platform.
Which countries can I engage talent in? Does price vary by country?
Oyster helps you engage Team Members in 180+ countries. Check out the complete list of countries we serve and the associated prices here.
How does the annual subscription work?
When you hire full-time Team Members, we understand the goal is to work with them for years, not months. With the annual subscription, you can save 1200 USD on Oyster fees for each Team Member. (Now that’s a lot of savings!)
Here’s how it works: When you submit a hire request for a new Team Member, you’ll see the annualized Oyster fee charged on your first deposit invoice. The 11 subsequent invoices will not include any Oyster fees. When it’s time to renew your subscription, you’ll see the annual cost again on your 12th invoice for that Team Member.
Note: Annual subscription is not available for contractors.
Can I migrate an existing Team Member from monthly to annual subscription?
Yes, this is possible. Please reach out to your Account Manager or submit a request to our Help Center to start the process.
