What is a digital nomad visa?

Digital nomad visa
A digital nomad visa is a visa that allows remote workers to live and work in a foreign country, as long as their employer or business is located outside of the host country. Digital nomad visas can run from 6 months to 5 years, and are usually intended for temporary residence, not as a path to citizenship.
Why do you need a digital nomad visa?
Digital nomads often resort to tourist visas in order to work remotely while traveling and living abroad. But tourist visas often have strict time limitsβsometime as little as 30 days. In addition, working while on a tourist visa is a gray area with potential legal complications.
The digital nomad visa enables remote workers to stay longer and makes it possible for them to work legally, as long as they are employed or self-employed outside the host country and not competing for local jobs.
How do you apply for a digital nomad visa?
The eligibility and application requirements vary from country to country. The core requirement is that the applicant must have the ability to work remotely, with their income being generated abroad. Many host countries specify a minimum monthly or annual salary to be eligible. Host countries may also require proof of health insurance, a police background check, and other documents.
